UPDATE: Thursday’s show will also pay tribute to Andy Williams, who died Tuesday.
On Thursday’s edition of “The Grooveyard”, we’ll feature the best of the one-it wonders, songs by artists who only had one hit song. You probably know some of the obvious groups–The Penguins, Teen Queens or Mystics–but there will also be some surprises. You’ll hear the first British group to have a number one hit in the United States–and that’s obviously not The Beatles! We’ll also look at the results of the first “Grooveyard Greats” survey, which ended last week. Finally, the Top Ten @ 10 will feature the top songs of September 27, 1955.
Talking about the “Grooveyard Greats”, the poll for the best songs of 1957 will close Thursday evening, with results posted Friday. The poll for 1960 remains open and a new survey for your favorites of 1955 and earlier will open Thursday. On each survey, you can choose your 10 favorite songs of the year. For results, links, updates and a full schedule, check out our Grooveyard Greats page.
Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone. Feel free to send song requests, non-political rants, comments and suggestions below.
