This Week: Another Weather Break, and John Lennon on The Rock Show

“The Grooveyard” will be host-free again this week due to travel issues following the second storm to hit the area in two weeks.  Once again, the video version of the week’s scheduled Top Ten @ 10–the top hits of November 8, 1960–will appear online at 10 PM ET, the same time it would have been heard on the air.  WCWP will air music from the Grooveyard era in it’s place Thursday night from 9-11 PM.

You can also continue to vote for your favorite songs on our Grooveyard Greats listener polls.  The polls for the best songs of 1958 and 1961 continues until tonight at 11 PM.  The final poll in the first round of the Grooveyard Greats–for the best songs of 1956— will be open another week.  Take a break from the stresses of recovery and vote for your favorite songs.  There have been some close races, so your votes can make a difference in which songs will reach the final round.  You can also check the results so far and the full schedule on the Grooveyard Greats home page.

Weather permitting, Alan Seltzer will be hosting “The Rock Show” Friday evening at 7 PM.  In honor of the 32nd annual John Lennon tribute concert at Symphony Space on November 30, he will feature songs either about John Lennon, cover versions of Lennon songs, and cover versions of other songs by John Lennon or by the Beatles.  The concert will benefit WhyHunger, an organization offering grassroots solutions to hunger issues.  Alan will also be joining Bruce Morrow in the studio during his SiriusXM show next Wednesday in Cousn Brucie’s annual show supporting WhyHunger’s Hungerthon.

We look forward to you joining us again next Thursday at 9 PM on “The Grooveyard” on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests, non-political rants, comments and suggestions below.
