This Week: The Big Wrap-Ups

As we move towards the end of the year, two events important to Grooveyard fans wrap up this week.  First, WhyHunger’s Hungerthon will have the last day of on-air fundraising this Wednesday on WFAN, WCBS-AM, Sirius XM and other stations.  Grooveyard host Alan Seltzer will assist Cousin Brucie in the studio during his show on Sirius XM beginning at 5 PM.  This is the second consecutive year that WhyHunger received a four-star rating–the highest possible–for fiscal responsibility from Charity Navigator, the largest firm in the country evaluating non-profits.  Check out the Hungerthon site for information on auctions or gifts for your donation.

Voting also ends this week on the final round of the listener “Grooveyard Greats” poll.  You can vote for your 15 favorite songs from the Grooveyard era each day now through Thursday at 11 PM below or on the finals page here.  Be sure to click the “Vote Now” button on the bottom of the form so your choices count.  We’ll start posting the Top 50 here Christmas night at 9 PM, and count down the Top 30 on “The Grooveyard” December 27 at 9 PM.  There are some close races, including four different changes in the #1 slot within the last week alone, so your vote will make a difference.

On this week’s show, we’ll share a lot of holiday favorites and offer the Top Ten @ 10 for December 13, 1958.

Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests–including holiday songs–comments and suggestions below.
