This Week: Connie Francis, Back to the Beach, and the Start of Our Tweets

Pepe Cardona

First of all, thanks to everyone who turned out for Sunday’s Sandy Relief Benefit Concert for Gerritsen Beach at the Tamequa Bar and Marina in Brooklyn.  About 350 people turned out to eat, drink and hear a lot of great bands, including Pepe Cardona (above) and Alive ‘n Kicking, our guest on last Friday’s edition of “The Rock Show”.  For those of you were were unable to attend but would still like to help, you can still purchase t-shirts here or make a donation to Gerritsen Beach Cares.

On Thursday’s edition of “The Grooveyard”, we’ll feature a six-pack of songs by Connie Francis, celebrating her appearance this week in 1961 on “This Is Your Life”.  We’ll also celebrate the introduction of the show’s new Twitter features.  To join in the fun, you can follow us at @GrooveyardWCWP.  This week’s Top Ten @ 10 will feature the most popular songs on the radio on January 10, 1955.

Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests, comments and suggestions via Twitter or the form below.
