With twice as many votes already cast as last year’s two-week survey, there are several close races in The Grooveyard’s second annual Summer Song Survey. Songs by Eddie Cochran, Freddy Cannon and Nat “King” Cole have taken turns so far in the #1 slot, with several other songs within reach of the top spot as of Monday night. Bryan Hyland and the Beach Boys have two songs each in the Top Ten.
You can vote for your 10 favorite summer songs from the Grooveyard era–that’s the pre-British Invasion years–once a day until the poll closes on Memorial Day–May 27th–the unofficial start of Summer. There’s also a space for write-in votes on the survey, which is included here. Eligible write-in songs are added to the main survey daily. Daily updates are also available on Twitter @GrooveyardWCWP.
Host Alan Seltzer will count down your favorites on “The Grooveyard” on Thursday, May 30th starting at 9 PM on WCWP. “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.
