This Week: Mike Stoller, Ship Wreck to Recordings

On this week’s edition of “The Grooveyard”, host Alan Seltzer commemorates the anniversary of the crash of the Andrea Doria by featuring the music of songwriter Mike Stoller.

The Italian Transatlantic liner crashed with a Swedish liner called the Stockholm of the coast of Massachusetts on July 25, 1956, and Stoller was one of the passengers on the trip.  We’ll share many of the songs co-written by Stoller and his partner, Jerry Leiber for a variety of artists.  While some will be familiar, some rare recordings will also be included.  Along with the tribute, this week’s Top Ten @ 10 will feature the hits of July 25, 1963.

“The Grooveyard” follows the Thursday night edition of “The Rock Show” 9 PM on WCWP-FM.  It canbe heard at 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests, comments and suggestions via Twitter or the form below.
