This Week: The Groovemaster Can’t Help It

girl_can_t_help_it posterThis week on “The Grooveyard”, we pay tribute to the film “The Girl Can’t Help It” on the 57th anniversary of it’s Hollywood premiere.  The movie, which starred Jayne Mansfield, Tom Ewell and Edmond O’Brien, is considered by many to be the best of the Rock ‘n Roll movies of the 1950s.  Along with the title song and three other hits by Little Richard, the film featured music by Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochrane, Fats Domino, The Platters and others.

In addition, the week’s Top Ten @ 10 will feature the songs of August 22nd 1956.

Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard Thursday nights at 9 PM on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests, comments and suggestions via Twitter or the form below.
