This Week: Flashback 1958

It was the year when Elvis Presley was inducted into the Army.  It was also the year when unemployment reached 20 percent in Detroit to a recession, when the Dodgers and Giants played the first regular-season baseball game as West Coast teams, and when a young musician named Leonard Bernstein began a series of televised “Young People Concerts” that would continue for 14 years.

This Thursday at 9 PM, Alan Seltzer will focus on the music and events of 1958 in another Flashback special show on “The Grooveyard”..  We’ll play all the songs that made it to number one in order, plus clips from some of the major events of the year and as many other hits from the year as possible.WCWP logo

Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests, comments and suggestions via Twitter or our comments and dedications pages.
