This week’s edition of “The Grooveyard” will follow a special Soundswap broadcast from the Port Washington Public Library. Folk artist Rex Fowler, best known for his work with Aztec Two-Step and the Nutopians, will perform music from his solo album, “Gettysburg: Reflections on an American Life”. The 2000 release has been described as “a bittersweet look backward at faded memories of New York…and wherever you throw your hat….Of interest are the various atmospheric sounds that keep the songs connected and lively.” The concert will air live starting at 7:30 PM on WCWP. Anyone in the area can also attend the broadcast for free at the Port Washington Public Library at 1 Library Drive in Port Washington.
“The Grooveyard” will follow the live concert at approximately 9 PM. Time permitting, we will focus on the music of Ray Charles in honor of his four singles on the Billboard Top 100 this week in 1960. The “Top Ten @ 10” will feature the hits of November 21, 1961. We’ll also look at some of the songs on the last Grooveyard Greats listener survey, which closes Thursday at 11 PM. You can vote for your favorite songs of 1960 until Thursday at 11 PM.. Check the “Grooveyard Greats” page for details and links to the results of weekly polls that are already closed. Updates are available by following us on Twitter.
