A double celebration in one video: Today in 1981, Ray Charles was awarded a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the same time, we continue the holiday season on “The Grooveyard” with this performance. This week’s edition of “The Grooveyard” will feature holiday music. The show will begin approximately 9:15 PM, a special time due to the special radio dramatization of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, broadcast live from the Hillwood Cinema at LIU Post in Brookville beginning at 8 PM. Admission to the broadcast is free, although a donation to Long Island Cares will be requested at the door.
The final round of voting in this year’s Grooveyard Greats survey has set a record for the most votes in any listener poll on this website. You can choose your 15 favorite songs of the first round winners here daily through December 19th. The top vote-getters from the first round surveys advanced to the finals. Updates on voting are available via Twitter. And join Alan Seltzer on “The Grooveyard” Thursday nights at 9 PM ET on wcwp.org, or on 88.1 FM in Nassau County.
