This Week: The Top Hits of 1959

1959-RCA-Fliptop-OPEN

It was the year when Alaska and Hawaii gained statehood, when televison sets were made of teak wood, and when we saw the plane crash now known as “The Day the Music Died”.

This Thursday at 9 PM, Alan Seltzer will play the top hits of 1959 in the first of a series of Flashback special shows on “The Grooveyard”.  We’ll count down the Top 25 songs of the year and share as many other hits that charted in 1959 as possible.

Also, voting is now open in our listener survey for your favorite love songs.  There’s separate surveys for songs from the 1950s and for the Grooveyard years of the 1960s.  Pick up to 10 songs from each survey daily through February 6.  We’ll combine the results and announce the winners during our pre-Valentines Day show on February 13.  We’ll also take your holiday dedications here.

Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone.  Feel free to send song requests, comments and suggestions via Twitter or the form below.
