Thursday night at 9 PM, “The Grooveyard” will focus on the influences of polka music on rhythem and blues artists of the era. You’ll hear a full hour of artists like Lawrence Welk, Larry Chesky and the Six Fat Dutchmen, plus we’ll have an in-studio interview with Playa Piyamo, the leader of polka-billy group, The Polka Hauntus. The week’s Top Ten @ 10 will feature the music of April 3, 2014.
Hosted by Alan Seltzer, “The Grooveyard” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone. Feel free to send song requests, comments and suggestions via Twitter or the form here.
And by the way…APRIL FOOL! There’s no polka tribute Thursday night, and Playa Piyamo doesn’t exist as far as we know. We’ll actually feature Grooveyard-era inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a week before this week’s induction ceremony.
