Video of the Week: June 21, 2014

A great American Bandstand performance by Bobby Vee of “Run to Him”, a 1962 hit written by teh late Gerry Goffin and Jack Keller.  While Goffin, who died last Thursday, was best-known for the songs co-written with Carole King, he partnered with a number of other songwriters in his career.  Most notable of those were Phil Spector and Monkee Mike Nesmith.  Here’s a personal favorite, from the movie starring Diana Ross.

And finally, a memory of “It May as Well Rain Until September”, by his best-known partner, Carole King…

…and the song itself…

Time is running out to participate in our annual Summer Song Survey. Voting in the annual listener poll closes at the end of this week’s edition of “The Grooveyard” Thursday night at 9 PM.  Pick up to 10 favorite songs daily here, and follow us on Twitter for regular updates.  We’ll count down the top songs next week on a special pre-holiday edition of “The Grooveyard” July 3.
