Video of the Week: June 30, 2014

The “Come On Over” commercial for Palisades Park would be the top song of any Summer Song Survey if it was a charted hit. The words and music were written by songwriter Gladys Shelley and was sung by Steve Clayton.  Since it wasn’t we’ll include it here, along with a video of the song Freddy Cannon sang about the New Jersey amusement park.  “Palisades Park”–the song–was written by Chuck Barris, who was best known for hosting “The Gong Show” and “The Dating  Game”. Here’s a quick clip from “The Gong Show” for anyone who was lucky enough to forget the show…

See where Freddy’s hit winds up Thursday night on the pre-holiday edition of “The Grooveyard”, when Alan Seltzer counts down the top summer songs as you voted for them.
