Video of the Week: September 15, 2014

This week, we celebrate the career of Bob Crewe, who helped create a parade of indelible hits, most notably for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, including “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Rag Doll” and Mr. Valli’s soaring anthem of adoration “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”.  Crewe died on Thursday in Scarborough, Me. He was 83.

While Crewe was best known for the hits written for the Four Seasons, his “Music to Watch Girls By” was featured in the Diet Pepsi commercial shown above.  He also had a co-writer credit on this Freddie Cannon song among many other favorites…

Of course, this tribute wouldn’t be complete without a medley of his hits for the Four Seasons…

…and for fans of Bob Crewe, this song is an appropriate finale.

Don’t forget that voting is open now in our annual Grooveyard Greats listener poll.  You can vote daily for your 10 favorite songs of 1959 here through Thursday.  Voting for your favorite songs of 1956 continues here.  And join us each Thursday at 9 PM on . . .
