Thursday night at 9 PM, we celebrate the anniversary of “Mr. Rock ‘n Roll“, the film that claims to show how Alan Freed discovered rock ‘n roll, by playing music by artists that appeared in the movie. Released this week in 1957, the film traced the music to their roote in jazz, blues and gospel. Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Clyde McPhatter were included in the cast.
Host Alan Seltzer will also offer a Top Ten @ 10 featuring the top hits of September 25, 1958 and updates on our annual “Grooveyard Greats listener poll. You can choose your 10 favorite songs of 1956 now through Thursday, and the best of 1963 through the end of next week’s show. Choose songs from the list, or write in your own favorites. Details and a full schedule are on our first round page here.
