With only three days remaining before the unveiling of the 2014 Grooveyard Great 88, we continue to unwrap a video of one song that just missed the survey. Hear the full Great 88 on a special five hour edition of “The Grooveyard” on a special night and time–Friday, December 26 starting at 7 PM. Our pre-survey show begins at 6 PM. Check out the complete year-end schedule here.
“Sorry (I Ran All the Way Home)” by The Impalas (1959)
The Impalas were found by songwriters Artie Zwirn and Aristides “Gino” Giosasi, who wrote the song “Sorry (I Ran All The Way Home)”. In 1959 disc jockey Alan Freed heard the group, added his name as a writer of the song, and got them a deal with MGM Records subsidiary label Cub. (2013: not on survey, 2012: not on survey)
Come back each night through Christmas as we unwrap another song that just missed the Great 88. You can also check out first round results here.
