The party starts this week!
The brand new “Saturday Soiree” starts this Saturday night at 7 PM. The “Saturday Soiree” will feature the best music from 1964 through the early 1970s. Just like “The Grooveyard” plays the top hits of 1963 and earlier every Thursday night, the “Saturday Soiree” will feature your favorites from the British Invasion and beyond. You’ll hear everything from Motown to Surf Music to Psychedelic sounds to Folk Rock, and anything else in-between.
Each week’s show will feature a “Soiree Survey”, a full-hour look at the top hits on this day in history. We’ll count down the Top Ten songs, plus play a lot of bonus hits from that date. Saturday’s show will feature the hits of January 31, 1966.
The show also features occasional listener surveys, with results played on special editions of the show. Voting in our “Love Song Survey” is open now through February 7th at 10 PM, immediately following the end of the show. Results will be announced during the Valentines Night edition of the show. Get details and vote here.
Also this week, “The Grooveyard” will pay tribute to Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper just prior to the anniversary of the infamous plane crash. The Top Ten @ 10 will feature the hits of January 29, 1963. The show will begin at about 9:30, about a half hour later than usual, following a LIU Post basketball game. Aside from potential playoff games, this will be the only delayed start this season.
Both “The Grooveyard” and the “Saturday Soiree” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone. (You can also click the logo on the right.) Join us on. . .
