There’s lots of great memories this week, as “The Grooveyard” looks back to 1961 and the “Saturday Soiree” pays tribute to Lesley Gore.
Lesley Gore, who passed away Monday, was best known for her many hit songs during the 1960s. She was also an actress and composer, nominated for an Academy Award for “Out Here on My Own” a ballad from the movie “Fame”. “Saturday Soiree” host Bobby G will also offer a “Soiree Survey” for February 21, 1970 on the show, which begins at 7 PM.
Thursday at 9 PM, Alan Seltzer will focus on the music and events of 1961 on a Flashback special on “The Grooveyard”. We’ll play all the songs that made it to number one in order, plus clips from some of the major events of the year and as many other hits from the year as possible.
Both “The Grooveyard” and the “Saturday Soiree” can be heard on 88.1 FM on Long Island, the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or the TuneIn app on your SmartPhone. (You can also click the logo on the right.) Join us on. . .
