We’ll celebrate the holiday season Thursday night at 9 PM on “The Grooveyard”, when host Alan Seltzer features “A Christmas Gift for You”, also known as the Phil Spector Christmas Album. The iconic album–coincidentally first released on November 22, 1963, the day of President Kennedy’s assassination–features music by Darlene Love, Bobb B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans, the Ronettes and the Crystals. The Top Ten @ 10 will feature the hits of December 10, 1960.
In addition, the polls will close Thursday at 11 PM in the final round of the Grooveyard Great 88 listener survey. Pick your ten favorites in each of the three polls, covering songs that were hits in 1957 and earlier, 1958-1960 and 1961-1963. This has been a record-setting year for the Great 88, with each finals category setting new highs. Results will be announced during a special five-hour edition of “The Grooveyard” Saturday, December 26 starting at 7 PM.
This week’s show will be the final two-hour edition of “The Grooveyard” on Thursday nights. Next week’s program begins following the play-by-play of LIU Post basketball at about 9:30 PM, and will be a repeat of last year’s holiday show. “The Grooveyard” expands to three hours a week when we move to our new day and time–Saturdays at 7 PM–beginning January 2, 2016. We’ll continue will our old features and add some new ones on the SAturday night show.
