This Weekend: Elvis’ “Gate-est” Hits

The 60th anniversary of the installation of the iconic Music Gates at Graceland will be celebrated Saturday night on “The Grooveyard”.

Filling in for Alan Seltzer, guest host Bobby G will feature an hour of music by Elvis.  The custom gates were designed for Elvis by Abe Saucer and custom built by John Dillars, Jr., of Memphis Doors, Inc., and were delivered and installed at Graceland on April 22, 1957.  He’ll also offer the hits of April 22, 1962 and play more of your favorites during the Grooveyard Party hour.

Meantime, Alan Seltzer will take part in the “Rock and Roll Spectacular” at Holy Cross High School on Saturday.  Tickets are still available for the event.  The April 22 show will feature Ron Dante (of the Archies and Cufflinks), Charlie Thomas’ Drifters (“Under the Boardwalk”), Emil Stucchio and the Classics (“Till Then”), 1910 Fruitgum Company (“Simon Says”) and Barbara Harris and the Toys (“Lover’s Concerto”)   The show benefits the Father’s Club at Holy Cross High School.  Tickets are available by calling John Whelan at 718-279-0470.
