The start of July 4th weekend will be celebrated Saturday night at 7 PM when “The Grooveyard” unveils the results of this year’s Summer Song Survey. Host Alan Seltzer will also pay tribute to a broadcasting legend on the anniversary of his New York radio debut.
As in past summer song surveys, the poll features both songs about the season and hits popular during the summer months. The songs may have been heard on transistor radios while walking on the beach or at a picnic, or at an amusement park. A record number of listeners voted in the poll, topping last year’s survey by over 58% and doubling the number of votes by listeners in 2014.
In addition, we’ll celebrate the anniversary of “Not Chuck Dunaway”, who hosted shows on WABC radio on June 30 and July 1, 1961. “Not” went on to greater popularity on the station when he became host of the “Ingram Thing” as Dan Ingram two days later.
