Traditional favorites continued to dominate the survey for the best songs of 1956. “In the Still of the Night” reached the top five for a record fifth year. Elvis Presley also repeated in the Top 5, along with “Blueberry Hill” by Fats Domino. Perhaps helped by his death during the voting period, “Blue Monday” also reached the Top 5.
