The pioneers of rock and roll will be featured on The Grooveyard Saturday night as we honor the end of another pioneer tradition.
The tradition of the C.W. Post Pioneers which began when the college opened in 1954 will end next fall. The “One LIU” plan that will combine sports programs of LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post was announced at a press conference this week. Host Alan Seltzer will show old-time Pioneer spirit by playing hits by many of the influential musical pioneers to honor the tradition.
In addition, Grooveyard Top Ten will feature the hits of October 6, 1961. We’ll also play your favorites during the Grooveyard Party Hour and update results on the Grooveyard Great 88.
Voting continues in the first round of the Great 88 surveys. Voting closes at 10 PM Saturday on the surveys for your favorite songs of 1955 and earlier and 1957. In addition, you can pick the best songs of 1960′ and the survey for 1961 just opened. A full first round schedule and addtional information can be found here.
