1963 – The Results

While other 2018  Great 88 first round surveys had as many as four songs repeating from the previous year, the poll for 1963 had only one song returning to the top positions.  A perennial favorite by the Ronettes returned for the third consecutive year.  Darlene Love returned to the Top Five, but as a member of The Crystals with a different song.

Here’s the top five songs from 1963 alphabetically by artist:

“He’s So Fine” by The Chiffons

“He’s Sure the Boy I Love” by The Crystals

“Up on the Roof” by The Drifters

“Easier Said Than Done” by The Essex

“Be My Baby” by The Ronettes

This was the final first-round survey in this year’s Great 88.  Voting in the final round will begin later this week.  Check out all the first round results here, and get updates on Twitter.
