This Weekend: Survey! Survey! Survey!

Labor Day Weekend traditionally means the end of summer, start of football season, the first day of school…and the kickoff of the Great 88 on The Grooveyard.

Saturday night, at 7, host Alan Seltzer will celebrate the start of the eighth annual listener survey by playing the Top 20 songs from the first seven surveys.  This will be the first of three surveys on this week’s show.

Since there will be no Grooveyard show next week due to the inaugural LIU Sharks football game, we’ll feature two Grooveyard Top Ten surveys.  First, we’ll offer the top hits of August 31, 1963 followed by the survey for August 31, 1956.  The two years are featured in the first Great 88 surveys this year, with early voting available on the 1956 poll due to the pre-emption.  Following the surveys, we’ll play more of your favorites and take your requests during the Grooveyard Party hour.

Voting has officially started in the eighth annual Great 88 surveys.  Pick your 10 favorite songs from  1963 and 1956  here daily.  A full first round schedule and additional information can be found here.   You can also find the results of earlier surveys in the Great 88 section.

Be sure to follow The Grooveyard’s website so you know if advance about abbreviated or pre-emted shows due to LIU sports coverage.  Along with the announcements, followers will receive a full Top Ten in their e-mail when we play a Top Five during half hour shows.  Just five us your name and e-mail here.
