1963 – The Results


While the survey for the best songs of 1963 was more wide open than past years, the final result was a virtual repeat of 2018.  A total of 69 different songs from the year received one or more votes, but four songs repeated in the top five positions from last year.  The Ronettes help one of the top positions for the fourth consecutive year.

Here’s the top five songs from 1963 alphabetically by artist:

“He’s So Fine” by The Chiffons

“Up on the Roof” by The Drifters

“Easier Said Than Done” by The Essex

“Louie Louie” by The Kingsmen

“Be My Baby” by The Ronettes
