1958 – The Results

Diversity traditionally reigns in the survey for the best songs of 1958, and our eighth annual survey was no exception.  A total of 64 different songs received some attention.  Tommy Edwards was the sole returnee to the top five songs, reaching that milestone for the third straignt year.  Ritchie Valen’s “La Bamba” missed a repeat to the top five by only three votes.

Here’s the top five songs in alphabetical order by artist:

“Maybe” by The Chantels

“It’s All in the Game” by Tommy Edwards

“Little Star” by The Elegants

“When” by The Kalin Twins

“Don’t You Just Know It” by Huey “Piano” Smith
