It was close, but Jerry Lewis continued to be a listener favorite in the Great 88 survey for the best songs of 1957. “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” appeared on top of the survey for the fifth straight year. The Dell-Vikings joined the Top Five for the third year, and LaVern Baker repeated a second time. Voting was close, though with 18 songs within a percent of the leaders.
Here’s the top five songs from 1957 alphabetically by artist:
“Jim Dandy” by LaVern Baker
“Mr. Lee” by The Bobbettes
“Come Go With Me” by The Del Vikings
“Over the Mountain, Across the Sea” by Johnny and Joe
“Whole Lotta’ Shakin’ Goin’ On” by Jerry Lee Lewis
