This Weekend: Having Your Phil

We’ll be Phil-ed with hits Saturday night on “The Grooveyard”.

Host Alan Seltzer will celebrate the anniversary of the release of “A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector” by sharing an hour of songs from the iconic producer.  The album’s release on November 22, 1963 was eclipsed in history by another newsworthy event the same day, but has had a major effect on music history.  We’ll play songs produced–and sung–by Spector during the tribute.

In addition, the Grooveyard Top 10 will feature the hits of November 23, 1963.  We’ll also play more of your favorites and celebrate some November birthdays during the Grooveyard Party hour and update the voting for our Grooveyard Great 88 polls.

GROOVEYARD 88_FINAL 2Voting is now open in the final round of our eighth annual Grooveyard Great 88 survey.   Pick your 15 favorites in each of the three polls, covering songs that were hits in 1957 and earlier, 1958-1960 and 1961-1963.  You can vote daily through December 9 at 10 PM.  Results will be announced during a special five-hour edition of “The Grooveyard”  on December 28 starting at 7 PM.

Be sure to follow The Grooveyard’s website so you know in advance about abbreviated or pre-emted shows due to LIU sports coverage.  Along with the announcements, followers will receive a full Top Ten in their e-mail when we play a Top Five during half hour shows.  Just give us your name and e-mail here.
