1958 – The Results

Diversity has always been the key to the survey for your favorite songs of 1958, with 14 different songs reaching the Top Five in the last four years.  Despite setting a new record for the number of votes in a first round survey–beating the previous record by over 18%–the ninth annual poll is no different.  Four of the five songs reached the top group for the first time.  The Elegants were the exception, repeating from last year and reaching the Top Five for the third time in four years.  Buddy Holly became the first artist with two top five songs combined with his pair of hits this year.

Here’s the top five songs in alphabetical order by artist:

“Little Star” by The Elegants

“Do You Want to Dance” by Bobby Freeman

“Heartbeat” by Buddy Holly

“Rave On” by Buddy Holly

“Good Golly Miss Molly” by Little Richard

Voting is now open on the polls for the best songs of 1956 , 1959 and 1962.   Check out the full schedule here, and get updates on Twitter.
