The annual WCWP Homecoming Weekend may have been cancelled this year due to Covid restrictions, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be celebrations.
The annual weekend traditionally features alumni returning to the station to host shows they did as students and hang out with old friends. The annual event has grown to 60 hours of special programming, which would have taken place this weekend. While that’s impossible this year due to distancing regulations, host Alan Seltzer will celebrate Homecoming Weekend Saturday night on The Grooveyard with a mix of our regular Greatest Hits and Forgotten Favorites and visits from station alumni sharing their stories.
In addition, the Grooveyard Top 10 will feature the hits of October 17, 1960, we’ll play more of your favorites during the Grooveyard Party hour and update the voting for our Grooveyard Great 88 polls.
Voting continues in the ninth annual Great 88 surveys. Voting for the top hits of 1962 closes Saturday at 10 PM. You can also pick your 10 favorite songs from 1955 and 1960 daily. A full first round schedule and additional information can be found here. You can also find the results of earlier surveys in the Great 88 section.
Listen to “The Grooveyard” each Saturday night at 7 PM on 88.1 FM on Long Island or by clicking the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or via the TuneIn app. You can also follow us on Twitter.
