1960 – The Results

If anything is constant in the 2020 Great 88, it’s change from past years.  The survey for the best songs of 1960 was traditionally known for it’s tight races.  However, the number of songs within a percent of the Top Five went down from 20 in 2019 to eight this year.  There was consistency in the top group, with three songs repeating:  Dion reached the Top Five for the fourth straight year, Kathy Young and the Innocents appeared for the third consecutive time, and Gary US Bonds is a two-time repeater.

Here are your Top Five songs of 1960 in alphabetical order by artist:

“Let’s Go Let’s Go Let’s Go” by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters

“New Orleans” by Gary US Bonds

“Lonely Teenager” by Dion

“Volare” by Bobby Rydell

“A Thousand Stars” by Kathy Young and the Innocents
