1958 – The Results

The Holly-day season began early in the 10th annual first-round voting for your favorite songs of 1958.  Buddy Holly had a total of four songs in the Top 15, although only one–“Maybe Baby”–made the Top Five due to him competing against himself.  Similarly, the Everly Brothers had three songs in the Top 15, but only “All I Have to Do is Dream” made the Top Five.  Oddly, both songs reached the highest positions for the first time since 2015.  Among other artists, the Elegants repeated for the third straight year–and fourth time in five years–and Bobby Freeman returned to the top positions for the second straight year.

Here’s the top five songs in alphabetical order by artist:

“Maybe Baby” by The Crickets

“Little Star” by The Elegants

“All I Have to Do Is Dream” by The Everly Brothers

“Do You Want to Dance” by Bobby Freeman

“La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens
