1963 – The Results

GROOVEYARD 88_FINAL 2The first-round survey for your favorite songs of 1963 traditionally features a lot of diversity, and that was the case this year more than ever.  Along with a record number of votes in this poll, a record 78 different songs received support in this year’s survey.  At the same time, a total of 20 songs wound up with more votes than the top song in last year’s 1963 first-round survey.  Just like last year, when “Da Doo Ron Ron” made the top five for the third straight year, only one song repeated in the Top Five–Lenny Welch with “Since I Fell For You”.  Here’s the top five songs in alphabetical order by artist:

“The End of the World” by Skeeter Davis

“Louie Louie” by The Kingsmen

“Be My Baby” by The Ronettes

“So Much in Love” by The Tymes

“Since I Fell For You” by Lenny Welch
