1956 – The Results

Traditional favorites dominated the survey for the best songs of 1956 once again in 2018 with four out of the five songs repeating in the top five from the previous survey.  The number 2 song in the history of the survey,  “In the Still of the Night” reached the top five for a record sixth year.   Fats Domino, Gogi Grant and Elvis Presley also repeated.  A second Fats Domino song, Blue Monday, missed repeating by only two votes.

Here’s the top five songs from 1956 alphabetically by artist:

“Blueberry Hill” by Fats Domino

“In the Still of the Night” by Five Satins

“The Wayward Wind” by Gogi Grant

“Why Do Fools Fall in Love” by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers

“Don’t Be Cruel” by Elvis Presley
