Jerry Lee Lewis was even more dominant than usual in the Great 88 survey for the best songs of 1957. “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” appeared on top of the survey for the fourth straight year. He was also the first artist in the survey’s seven year history to have two songs in the top five. Buddy Holly and the Crickets and the Del Vikings join Jerry Lee repeating in the top songs of the year.
Here’s the top five songs from 1957 alphabetically by artist:
“Jim Dandy” by LaVern Baker
“Come Go With Me” by The Del Vikings
“That’ll Be the Day” by Buddy Holly and the Crickets
“Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis
“Whole Lotta’ Shakin’ Goin’ On” by Jerry Lee Lewis
